So, if you want to open MBOX file in Outlook, you will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Either Convert MBOX to Outlook format i.e., PST<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Or Use a Free Email Client to Move MBOX to Outlook<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both these solutions are feasible. It depends on your requirements. As for how to implement these techniques, find them below.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Import MBOX files into Outlook for Free?<\/h2>\n<p>This method uses a <strong>free email client<\/strong> to act as an intermediary between MBOX and Outlook. The concept behind this is that this free email client supports MBOX format. MBOX file is now in Outlook<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So, let\u2019s get started:<\/p>\n<h3>I &#8211; Configure account in the free email client<\/h3>\n<p>The Free email client we will be using is Mozilla Thunderbird. The first step in importing MBOX file in Outlook is as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a new Gmail account. Go to its <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt;&gt; <strong>Forwarding and POP\/IMAP<\/strong> &gt;&gt; <strong>Enable IMAP<\/strong>, then <strong>save<\/strong> the changes.<\/li>\n<li>Download, install and run this email client on your system.<\/li>\n<li>In the \u2018Welcome to Thunderbird\u2019 window, click on <strong>Skip this and use my existing email<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Give a name, your email address of the new account, and password, then click on <strong>Continue<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Choose the <strong>IMAP<\/strong> option and click on <strong>Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This will configure the account in Thunderbird.<\/p>\n<h3>II &#8211; Import MBOX file in the free email client<\/h3>\n<p>This is the second step when using the free method to import MBOX files in Outlook. Here, we will import the MBOX file in the free email client.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You will see a <strong>Local Folders<\/strong> mailbox below the configured account in Thunderbird\u2019s left panel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Right-click<\/strong> on this Local Folders mailbox and click the <strong>Properties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Copy<\/strong> the location given in the Local directory.<\/li>\n<li>Open this copied location on your computer system.<\/li>\n<li>Now, copy your MBOX file(s) to this location on your system.<\/li>\n<li>Restart Thunderbird.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Your MBOX file(s) will appear under the Local Folders mailbox.<\/p>\n<h3>III &#8211; Move data to the configured account<\/h3>\n<p>This is the third step when importing MBOX format to Outlook. Here, new will move data to the configured account.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the free email client, open the imported MBOX mailbox.<\/li>\n<li>Select all the emails you want to move to Outlook.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on one of the selected emails, then choose Copy to &gt;&gt; your email account &gt;&gt; Inbox.<\/li>\n<li>You can create multiple folders in Inbox, and copy different MBOX data in different folders.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, all your MBOX data is copied to the configured account.<\/p>\n<h3>IV \u2013 Configure the same account in Microsoft Outlook<\/h3>\n<p>This is the fourth step of the MBOX to Outlook import guide. Here, we will configure the same account in Microsoft Outlook.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Microsoft Outlook.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>File<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Add Account<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Enter name, your email address of the same account, password, and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If you are having a problem, then <a href=\"https:\/\/myaccount.google.com\/lesssecureapps?\">Turn On the Allow less secure app access<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Finish<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This will configure the account in Outlook. MBOX file is now in Outlook<\/h3>\n<p>Until now, we copied the MBOX data to a newly configured account, then access the copied data in MS Outlook. So, in a way we are successful in importing MBOX file to Outlook. You can move the MBOX emails to another account or folder in Outlook. You can even export it in PST format if that is your requirement.<\/p>\n<h2>MBOX to Outlook Converter \u2013 Easily Import MBOX Files in Outlook<\/h2>\n<p>The aforementioned method is the only free method to import MBOX file to Outlook that actually works.
